The Banat is the region in the South-East of Romania. It belonged to Hungary for a long time. Doinas are very popular in this region, even played by brass bands. The most well known dances (and songs in a dancing rhythm) are De doi, Ardeleana, Brâu, Soroc.
An influence of the nearby Servia can be heard in the cords, which the popular orchestras often use at the end of the melodies.
