Category: Hallgató/Asztalos  r: e:

The Hungarian verb hallgató means to listen. A hallgató is a peace of music that is not meant for dancing, but just for listening. In some rural regions the term for such type of music is asztalos (the Hungarian word asztal means table).

A hallgató or asztalos is played molto rubato, so that any rhythmic measure is not recognized by the listener. Often this kind of music is notated without measure signs. In the attachments, I use simply a 4/4 measure, writing out the music as it sounds by approximation.
